Valentine's Border

Experience is a good teacher. I didn't have something definite in mind when I put the base coat on, and as I started sketching it out, I realized I wanted to take it in a different direction. Rookie mistake. This wouldn't have taken me near as long if I would have sketched it out before hand. But for having to work around my mistakes, I was pleased with the outcome. I wish I had a better camera, I'm not so sure these shots so it justice.

Connexion 23

I've been calling around to businesses to beef up my portfolio, and I've been having a lot of positive response! Maybe not a lot of jobs yet, but lots of positive responses. I may be painting a car dealership's windows next week, a restaurant wants me to design their chalkboard menu here and in Idaho Falls weekly-ish (which I'm really excited about), and I've even been offered an opportunity to paint a mural on the side of a restaurant! Yikes! We'll see about that one...
I got to paint the windows for a local clothing store this past week. They were really laid back about it, so it was fun for me to choose whatever I wanted to paint, so I chose something I was pretty comfortable with. They really liked it! I had to paint at night so that Richie could be with the kids, so it was a tad bit chilly, but totally worth it!

Small Valentine's Windows

Here are a few practice doodles on some of our smaller windows at home! I have plans to expand the cupcake idea...stay tuned.

You're A Hoot!

I was doodling the other night and got to thinking about those cute owls that are everywhere these days! And within 5 minutes I had this sketched out. I got a kick out of the words, although my husband thought they were pretty cheesy! He's probably right, but I think this would be so cute at a place kids go to a lot. A library, movie theater, restaurant. It could work a lot of places. My favorite part? Those cheesy words. :)

All You Need Is LOVE!

Here's a Valentine's Day window I did at our home in the front window. I have lots of ideas using this motif, I just ran out of windows! To me it says, "Happy Valentine's Day" without being too cliche. My favorite part of this window? The "All you need is love" sign. Love me some Beatles.
